This novel began as an idea many years ago, but the book readers hold today is the result of returning to that story with years of new experiences, a deeper understanding of the characters, and a clearer vision of the journey I wanted them to take. It grew into a novel about resilience, friendship, hope, and the extraordinary courage ordinary people discover when everything they love is at risk.
